What is my role? As Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Students and Community Educator, I am fortunate to spend most of my time with Caltech students! You can usually find me brainstorming with both the undergraduate and graduate Title IX Councils, training the ever-growing team of Equity and Title IX Advocates, or leading the office's prevention education and outreach initiatives. Additionally, I often sit with students to discuss their options and help develop a support plan. Finally, I assist in resolution processes involving one or more students, including as an investigator when appropriate.
Why is this work important to me? I choose to do this work because I believe in the potential of our students and I know that barriers like discrimination, harassment and violence hurt every member of our community.
Fun fact about me. My formerly unbelievably thick east Texas accent made me the voice of a radio station during my elementary school years. Funner fact, when I'm talking fast (or about Texas barbeque) you just might hear the old Allie resurface.
